Increase in fees, taxes to take effect from July

The Municipal Corporation Murree, a unit of the District Council Rawalpindi’s Local Government, has drastically increased taxes and fees under various heads for the new financial year 2022-23.

A daily tax of Rs200 has been levied on those selling balloons in Murree's recreational places and Murree bazaars, while this tax will also be levied on every peddler.

The parking fee, slaughterhouse fee, toilet fee, advertisements and bill-board fee had also been increased hugely. The increase in fees and taxes will be effective from July 1, 2022, and will continue till June 30, 2023.

In a circular issued by Chief Officer District Council Rawalpindi, the advertisement board and Pendaflex contract will be awarded for Rs3.5 million in the new financial year.

According to the new slab rates, the general board tax will be levied at Rs100 per square feet per month, hoarding board tax at Rs300 per sq ft per month, six-meter-long banner at Rs500 per sq ft per month, neon sign, and electric board at Rs400 per sq ft per month.

Similarly, the general bus stand Murree parking contract will be awarded for over Rs2.5 million per annum, car parking at the Municipal Corporation Murree area for over Rs4.4 million per annum, jeep parking fee will be charged at Rs100 in the daytime and Rs150 at night. The toilet contract of Murree Corporation will be auctioned at Rs0.22 million.
