The federal government has revised upwards the prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs5.43 per kilo in Region I and Rs6.89 per kilogramme in Region II in order to collect sales tax on the fuel.
According to an official notification issued by the Federal Board of Revenue on Tuesday, customers will be charged sales tax on CNG supply at fixed price.
According to details, the price has been fixed at Rs140 per kg for collection of sales tax on CNG in Region I comprising Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujjar Khan, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier, the price of CNG for collection of sales tax on CNG in Region I was fixed at Rs134.57 which has now been increased to Rs140 per kg.
Further, in Region II comprising Sindh and Punjab, the price for collection of sales tax on CNG has been fixed at Rs135 per kg.
Earlier, in Region II, the price for collection of sales tax on CNG was fixed at Rs128.11 per kg which has now been increased to Rs135 per kg.
The FBR officials said that the move would increase sales tax collection from the CNG sector.
