At least four men died in two different road accidents in district Mansehra and Torghar.
According to the police, a jeep fell into a deep gorge at Shugran Sripaya road where two tourists died on the spot and two others were critically injured. The tourist's vehicle was coming from Siripaya and heading towards Shugran where the driver lost control over the vehicle and fell into a ravine.
The tourists belonged to Dalbandeen Chagi Balochistan province.
The deceased were identified as 43-year-old Maqsood and 35-year-old Inayat Maqsood while 40-year-old Daud 40 43-year-old Maqsood Umer were critically injured.
Volunteers, police and rescue 1122 recovered the dead bodies and injured and shifted them to King Abdullah Hospital Mansehra.
Another accident took place in village Mori district Torghar Jadba where a passenger jeep fell into a deep gorge resulting in two people including a woman’s death while two others sustained critical injuries.
Locals and police have recovered the dead bodies and injured from the gorge and shifted them to district headquarters hospital Torghar and handed over the dead bodies to the family after postmortem.
Ban imposed on swimming
Mansehra Deputy Commissioner imposed a ban on swimming in rivers, streams, lakes and ponds of the district keeping in view the flood threat.
The ban was imposed to protect precious human lives. The decision was taken because of the heatwave expected within the next few days due to which snow melting process would be increased and floods are also expected in River Kunhar, Indus, streams and lakes of the district.
According to the notification issued by the DC office in Mansehra, the police have been directed to monitor the rivers Kunhar, Indus and streams and make sure nobody was violating the ban. This order shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of 60 days. The DC warned that any person contravening this order shall render himself liable to punishment under Section 188 PPC.
Locals demanded strict enforcement of section 144 and punishment for offenders. Every year dozens of people lose their lives during the months of April to July despite the ban on swimming and bathing in the rivers, streams and lakes as there is no monitoring system or punishment for the violation of the ban.
On Saturday, eleven people were seriously injured in an accident within the limits of Haripur Police Station Sarai Saleh.
Some of the injured belonged to Mansehra. They were identified as Khalida Bibi, 38, wife of Chen Zeb, Shaheen, daughter of Pervez Khalid, Aqsa Bibi, 12, daughter of Iftikhar Qureshi.
The injured were shifted to Haripur Trauma Center for medical assistance.
