KARACHI:

The Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi and Film Producers Association (FPA) jointly held an important press conference on the current state of the film industry at the ACP Auditorium.

ACP President, M. Ahmed Shah, Directors Yasir Nawaz, Nida Yasir, Adnan Siddiqui, Wajahat Rauf, Shazia Wajahat, Satish Anand, Amjad Rasheed and Badr Ikram spoke on the occasion.

Expressing his views, ACP president said, "The film industry is being destroyed under a conspiracy. This is a serious issue. Arts Council condemns it and now there is a need that government should put its foot down to save it."

The film industry has come to a complete standstill due to Covid. As many as five films have been released after two years, and these films are doing good business, as a result cinemas are re-emerging.

Amjad Rasheed, Chairman of, the Film Producers Association, said, "Our aim is to promote Pakistan's film industry. We tried to talk to the federal government officially but received no response."

Senior actor, Javed Sheikh urged the prime minister to take immediate action on this issue. "Earlier, it was said that our films are not good but now the quality of our films has improved."

Actor Adnan Siddiqui said, "Dum Mastam is my first film as a director and producer. It was not an easy task. You have booked a foreign movie that would have done the same business even if it was released later. We had sought one-week time only."
