16 killed in Punjab road accidents

1,273 were injured in 1,124 traffic crashes

At least 16 people died and 1273 were injured in 1124 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Of the injured, 776 victims with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, whereas 497 victims with minor injuries received treatment at the incident site. The majority of RTCs involved motorbikes.

Further analysis showed that 559 drivers, 31 underage drivers, 124 pedestrians, and 606 passengers were among the victims of RTCs. The statistics show that 261 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 280 persons, placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list.

Faisalabad followed behind with 80 RTCs with 83 victims and Multan at third with 79 RTCs and 76 victims. The details further reveal that 1289 victims were affected by RTCs including 968 males & 321 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 248 were under 18 years of age, 673 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 368 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 1003 motorbikes, 95 auto-rickshaws, 154 motorcars, 32 vans, 09 passenger buses, 25 trucks and 97 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved the aforementioned RTCs.
