Sindh allows six-month concession to inmates
The Sindh government, on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Prisons, has granted 180 days of special concession in jail terms to convicts in different prisons of the province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
This special amnesty is allowed to select category of prisoners and will not apply to inmates serving sentences under charges of murder, espionage, anti-state activities, terrorism, kidnapping, robbery, and those serving the term under foreigners act. Among the prisoners who are benefited from 180 days of special concessions in jail terms include 371 inmates in Central Jail Karachi, 264 in Hyderabad, 233 in Sukkur, 101 in Larkana, 63 in Khairpur, 47 in Mirpur Khas, eight in Women Prison Karachi, 88 in District Jail Malir, 13 each in Special Jail and Nara Hyderabad, four in Special Prison for Women Sukkur, two in Shaheed Benazirabad while one prisoner each in Dadu, Ghotki and Larkana jails.
Meanwhile, the Jail Superintendent, Central Prisons-I Sukkur, will allow the prisoners of all categories to meet their relatives on the occasion of Eid. According to jail officials, special arrangements were being made.
