Last year in March a man had reportedly committed suicide after killing his wife and three children due to poverty in Rahim Yar Khan.
Police said Ram Chand, a resident of Chak 135, committed suicide by cutting his vein after killing his wife and three children with a sharp instrument due to domestic disputes over poverty. Police took the bodies into custody and transported them to a hospital for autopsy.
After the medical and legal procedures were completed, the last rites of the five members of the same family were performed at Patan Minara cemetery.
A murder case had been registered on the complaint of Tirtha Ram against his brother-in-law Ram Chand, while the police started investigating the incident.
Ram Chand was a resident of Chak 135P. He used to work as a tailor.
He was poor because he had not worked for a long time and was frustrated by the quarrels within the family.
On the night of the incident, he allegedly cut the throats of his wife and three children with a sharp instrument. After that, Ram Chand himself cut his veins with the murder weapon.
When the neighbours did not receive a response after repeated knocks on the door in the morning, they broke it down with the help of other locals and found the woman and children dead, while Ram Chand was critically injured.
