Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday congratulated the newly elected body of Sindh Journalists Council (SJC) 2022 who have been elected during general body meeting.
The minister praised the struggle of SJC for raising the voice for security of journalists community and promoting and protecting right to freedom of expression.
Sharjeel extended congratulations to Rafiq Bhutto who is elected as patron-in-chief, Qazi Zuliqar, President. Other office bearers elected during the meeting for the year 2022 include: Syed Munawar Alam, senior vice president; Najibullah Naich, vice president; Shahid Sial, general Secretary; Asad Arain, joint Secretary; Abdullah Solangi, Deputy Secretary; Saleem Jhandeer, Treasurer; and Shabir Lashari, Information Secretary.
The minister hoped that the newly-elected body would continue its struggle for the welfare and rights of journalists. He added that Sindh government of Pakistan Peoples Party has always supported journalists and journalists' associations so as creating conducive working environment for journalists and media workers.
He assured council that Sindh government would continue to extend cooperation as PPP believes that free media is essential for a democratic society.
