Adherence to traffic rules stressed
A road safety seminar was organized on Sunday to promote adherence to traffic laws, in order to reduce fatalities and injuries from road accidents. Thousands of people are exposed to accidents that cause social and economic losses and fatalities. These can be reduced by implementing traffic rules through effective planning, the seminar established.
The Road Safety Seminar and CEO Excellence Award Ceremony was jointly organized by Coopergate Cables and held at NHMP Training College in Lahore. Commandant Training College, DIG Mehboob Aslam; CEO Coopergate Cables, Mian Safdar Hussain; Veteran Actor, Aftikhar Thauker; VP Muhammad Shahid Hamza; GM Tahir Saleem Butt and industrial workers and officers of the Motorway Police participated. DIG Aslam, CEO Hussain and other speakers highlighted different essential aspects of road safety.
Addressing the participants of the seminar, DIG Aslam said that road accidents pose a global challenge, as millions of people lose their lives and they are the eighth leading cause of death. He added that if the current ratio of accidents continues, it will become the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. The participants were also informed that road accidents are the leading cause of death among people from five to twenty-nine years of age.

DIG Aslam stressed that adherence to traffic rules and road safety measures will save precious human lives and property.
CEO Hussain echoed DIG Aslam’s sentiments, stating that road safety is a collective issue which requires an active effort from all segments of society. He further added that the role of social media is significant in creating road safety awareness among people and that the media has tried to perform its role without fail. The participants were shown different videos relating to important road safety by the Road Safety Team of the NHMP Training College.
