KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the superintendent of the Central Prison of Karachi to file comments on the complaints of convicts over claims of torture and being kept in solitary confinement, and being forced to pay bribes. Chief Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Imam Bux Baloch were hearing the petitions of two convicts. A district and sessions judge for South inspected the prison on the orders of the SHC and submitted his report on May 17. The district judge confirmed the unhygienic conditions and reports of forced bribery. He reported that the prison authorities were breaking the rules by running a solitary cell.
