PM Shehbaz arrives in Quetta for day-long visit

Premier to lay foundation stone for Khuzdar National Highway; review province's administrative affairs

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Saturday in his maiden visit to the province after assuming office.

Upon his arrival, the premier was received by Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizinjo while acting Governor Balochistan Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali, Minister for Housing and Works Maulana Abdul Wasey, chief secretary Balochistan and Inspector General of police were also present.

PM Shehbaz was also given a guard of honour upon his arrival at the chief minister secretariat.

During his visit, the premier will lay the foundation stone of Section One and Section Two of the Khuzdar National Highway, which is currently under reconstruction and is part of the Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Highway. Its two-lane approach would facilitate transportation between major cities of Balochistan.

PM Shehbaz will also review the administrative affairs of Balochistan, the law and order situation, and particularly look at the implementation of the government’s Ramazan special package.

He will also preside over a meeting regarding the complaint of the sale of essential commodities above stipulated prices and lack of supply of goods.

Shehbaz is also expected to meet public representatives in Balochistan. He is accompanied by Federal Communications Minister Maulana Asad Mahmood, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Balochistan National Party Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

Earlier this week, the premier visited North Waziristan where he paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the Pakistan Army for their success in breaking the back of terrorism and defeating and degrading all types of terrorist organisations and dismantling their infrastructure.

During his maiden visit to North Waziristan, Shehbaz assured the elders from the former tribal areas that the government would do everything possible to facilitate them and ensure their socio-economic development.
