ISLAMABAD:

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday lashed out at former prime minister Imran Khan and asked him to reveal the nature of his meetings with US Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullah Omar.

"Was the meeting with the American Congresswoman part of a conspiracy or was it interference?" the minister questioned, apparently attempting to pay back in the same coin to the ousted premier who is upping the ante against the government around his rallying “foreign conspiracy” claims.

The statement comes hours after the United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar called on Imran Khan at his Bani Gala residence. According to a tweet by PTI leader Shireen Mazari, the two discussed Islamophobia and other issues during the meeting.

The newly-appointed interior minister took the opportunity to state that it was ironic that the person who was bent on accusing the erstwhile opposition of hatching a conspiracy was now meeting Americans.

"Which US conspiracy did you discuss with Ilhan Omar?” he further asked.

The interior minister continued that if Imran Khan does not come clean before the nation regarding his meeting with the Congresswoman, the government will initiate a probe into it.

"The nation deserves to know the truth. Otherwise, Imran Niazi, following his tradition, might bring forth another letter in a few days."

Sanaullah said that the man who used to incite the nation against the United States was now "laughing and talking to the Americans".

The one who incited the nation against America through the slogan 'absolutely not' in rallies said 'absolutely yes' to meet the Americans? he asked.
