Up-Front Tariff Regulation 2011: Tariff applicable to new machinery

ISLAMABAD:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) issued Nepra Up-front Tariff Regulation 2011 for wind, hydro and coal- and gas-run thermal power plants on Friday. The notification says that the up-front tariff would apply to brand-new machinery only. It said that it would not be applicable to a hydro or wind power project with a capacity of more than 10 megawatts (MW). However, it added, the tariff would apply to a coal- or gas-run thermal project with a capacity of more than 10MW. The notification said that a potential investor would be required to submit a non-refundable processing fee of Rs50,000 along with his application to determine the upfront tariff for a project with a capacity of less than 10MW. It said that the application fee for a project of more than 10MW and less than 100MW capacity would be Rs100,000. For a project of over 100MW capacity, it said, the fee would be Rs200,000.
