Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said on Monday that the purpose of celebrating Youm-e- Khudi is to acquaint the youth with the message of Allama Iqbal.
Presiding over a meeting held to review the preparations for the celebrations, he said the events are part of the commemoration of the year of Iqbal.
The programmes planned for the occasion include a seminar on ‘Iqbal Aur Khudhi’, with panelists including Justice (retd) Nasira Javed, Prof Asghar Zaidi, Prof Baseera Ambereen and Prof Waheeduz Zaman.
The planned events include rendition of Kalam-e-Iqbal by singers Hina Nasrullah and Sara Raza Khan, and Qawwali by Nadeem Jameel Khan.
Actor and writer Adeel Hashmi will present ‘Shikwa, Jawab-e-Shikwa’, while ‘Raqs-e-Khudi’ performance by a versatile dance group, a meme performance by students of the Punjab University and a live painting competition will also be held. The winners of top three positions in the painting competition will get cash prizes of Rs30,000, Rs20,000 and Rs10,000.
The students of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts would also fully participate in the celebrations, the arts council executive director said.
The festivities will be hosted by the Alhamra Centre, Bazm-e-Iqbal
and the directorate
general of sports and youth affairs.
