Seven die in Punjab road accidents

73% of road crashes involved motorcycles

At least seven people died, whereas 1,075 were injured in 984 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this 658 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 410 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority (73%) involved motorcycles. Further, the analysis showed that 521 drivers, 26 underage drivers, 97 pedestrians, and 457 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 240 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 274 people placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 68 RTCs in Faisalabad with 73 victims and Multan with 63 RTCs and 70 victims.

The details further reveal that 1,075 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 875 males & 200 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 221 were under 18 years of age, 546 were between 18 and 40 years and the rest of the 308 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data 883 motorcycles, 76 rickshaws, 97 cars, 26 vans, seven passenger buses, 26 trucks and 96 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
