A man allegedly strangled his two-year-old daughter to death at his house within the jurisdiction of Naseerabad police station on Wednesday.
A case has been registered against the suspect on the mother’s complaint, said the police, adding that they were trying to arrest the culprit named Gulab Shah who fled after committing the crime.
Police said that preliminary investigations did not reveal why the man killed his own daughter.
CPO Omar Saeed Malik took notice of the incident and directed officials concerned to arrest the suspect immediately.
Police are looking into the case from a different angle. They said that had also collected evidence from the scene. Police said the body of the minor girl was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital for completing legal and medical formalities and later it was handed over to her mother.
In a separate incident, a 20-year-old young man allegedly committed suicide in the limit of Waris Khan police station.
Teams of Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. Police said that the man was a drug addict.
