LAHORE:

The three-day Vaisakhi festivities – a religious event of Sikhs – have begun in Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasan Abdal for which 2,200 yatrees have arrived in Pakistan from India for the first time after coronavirus pandemic.

The yatrees had to crossover Wagah border on foot as India did not allow the special train to be sent to the Attari border. A gift of Palki Sahib has also been sent for Gurdwara Shikar Sahib.

The Sikh yatrees started arriving at 8.30 in the morning. Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Additional Secretary Shrines Rana Shahid Saleem, deputy secretary Imran Gondal and others welcomed the guests and garlanded them.

Speaking on the occasion, Saleem noted that the main function of Vaisakhi would be held on April 14 in Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Hasan Abdal.

He said the Sikh yatrees would also visit other important gurdwaras in the country and would return back on April 21. He said the movement of yatrees through Kartarpur Corridor continued as usual.

Food arrangements were made for the Indian guests at Wagah Railway Station while rooms were also reserved for them.
