A man allegedly strangled his wife and staged a drama of heart attack.
The family members saw a mark on the woman's neck during the Ghusl and informed the police. Police handed over the body to her heirs after postmortem and registered a case.
In the case filed by Riaz Ahmed, it was stated that his daughter, 26-year-old Anam Bibi, was married to Gulfam nine years ago. The couple had three daughters.
He alleged that his son-in-law Gulfam killed his daughter and informed them by phone that Anam Bibi had had a heart attack which caused her death.
“My wife Shazia Bibi went for the Ghusl of Anam Bibi. When she saw the marks on her body and neck, she informed the police on suspicion,” said Riaz Ahmed.
In December last year, a man killed his wife in Khurrianwala.
Police said the suspect, Asghar Ali, son of Nizam Din, a resident of 93GB area, had married Parveen Bibi, a resident of 336GB, 16 years ago.
Reportedly, the suspect was mistrustful of his wife, and she was not allowed to go out of the house. On the day of the murder, the victim went out of the house without her husband’s permission. The suspect shot her over leaving the house without his permission.
The victim was rushed to a hospital where she died.
Police took the body into custody and shifted it to a hospital for postmortem.
They also raided some places after registering a case to arrest the husband of the deceased who had fled.
The police registered a case against the suspect under Sections 302 and 311 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of the victim’s sister Sakina Bibi. Cases where women are killed in the name of pride and honour are not uncommon in Punjab.
In October last year, two sisters were burnt alive along with five other people in a house in a similar case.
The police said the incident was initially declared the result of short circuit, resulting in the death of two sisters, four children, including an infant and a 65-year-old person.
However, Dera Ghazi Khan Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisal Rana ordered a reinvestigation of the case.
The inquiry report revealed that the suspects, identified as Sabir and Sajjad, with the help of Zawar, had set their sisters’ house on fire, killing Khursheed Bibi, Fauzia Bibi and others. Police said the suspects had been enraged over their sisters getting married of their choice several years ago.
In June, a man allegedly beat his wife and daughter to death over a petty dispute in Tandlianwala.
Reportedly, after not getting Rs500, the deranged man beat his wife and daughter to death with a stick. Police handed over the bodies to the relatives after postmortem and arrested the suspect after registering a case against him.
