QUETTA:

Four members of a family were killed when armed men opened fire at a vehicle in Balochistan’s Naseerabad district on Sunday.

Police told The Express Tribune that the incident happened in Goth Murad Baba Kot area of Naseerabad district.

“Four members of a family were travelling in a vehicle when eight armed men opened fire at them,” police said, adding that all of them died on the spot.

The victims have been identified as Shehzad, Majeed, Manzoor and Makhan.

Police reached the spot and opened an investigation into the incident soon after the attack. So far no arrest has been made in connection with the incident. The brutal murder caused widespread panic in the area.

“The attack is an outcome of an old tribal feud. This is what we have found in the initial investigation so far,” said a police official.

He said that additional force was deployed in the locality to maintain law and order. All four victims were buried in Murad Goth area of Baba Kot. A large number of people participated in the funeral prayer.

It may be noted here that tribal disputes abound across Balochistan. These feuds have claimed scores of precious human lives in the province without inviting much attention. These disputes have severely affected the socio-eonomic conditions of the province which covers half of the country in terms of area.
