Police say motive behind killing yet to be ascertained

Unidentified assailants shot dead a 52-year-old man in Barf Khana Chowk in the limits of ​​Race Course Police Station on Thursday.

After receiving information about the murder, Rescue 1122 workers reached the spot and shifted the body to District Headquarters Hospital in the presence of police for completing legal and medical formalities

Police said that locals informed them that Maqbool Ahmed was gunned down by unknown men. Police reached the crime scene and collected evidence with the help of a mobile forensic laboratory.

The suspects could not be traced in the preliminary investigation. Police have registered a case against the suspects and started an investigation. The motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained, said the police. The body will be handed over to the family members after completing formalities.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a woman within the limits of Saddar Bairooni police station.

The woman informed the police that she got married 16 years ago and has two sons and two daughters. She added that she was living happily until her husband’s nephew named Babar started visiting their house.

One day, he came when my husband was at work, she said, adding that he brought some intoxicating substance which he mixed in tea and made her drink. “I fell unconscious and he then raped me and also made a video. He often showed me that video to blackmail me if I refused to give him money,” she said.

After two months of mental agony, the woman shared her ordeal with her husband who listened to her and supported her. Police arrested the accused and registered a case against him.

The SP Saddar said that the woman was medically examined and the accused will be presented before the court with solid evidence.
