Litigants face difficulties as hearing of cases adjourned

Thousands of cases were adjourned owing to the non-availability of the lawyers who on Tuesday observed a strike in protest against the government’s illegal act of dissolving the national assembly.

The Punjab Bar Council (PbBC)’s Vice-chairman Syed Jaffar Tayyar Bukhari, Chairman Executive Committee and Members Punjab Bar Council Chaudhry Irfan Saeed claimed that the lawyers always stood for the supremacy of law and constitution and will not support any unconstitutional acts. As a protest, the PbBC announced a strike to send a message that violation of the Constitution could not be tolerated.

On the other hand, thousands of cases were adjourned for further dates owing to the non-availability of lawyers.

Muhammad Adnan, a litigant, who appeared for getting recorded his statement in a murder case, said he visited the district court from a far-flung area but this is not fair that he left his all-day activity for said purpose but he came to know that the lawyers are observing strike against the government’s illegal conduct.

He said the government’s action does not matter to him adding the activities of his matter. He said if the government does something wrong so it does not mean the other people to be punished.
