Drug smuggling bid foiled at airport

Islamabad police arrest nine suspects from different areas of city

ISLAMABAD:

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Airport Security Force (ASF) conducted an operation at the Islamabad International Airport and recovered 2.41 kg of hashish.

According to ANF spokesman, Asim Shehzad, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin, was found with hashish in his luggage during the operation. The accused had skillfully concealed the hashish in a suitcase and he was leaving for Bahrain.

A case has been registered against the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act and further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police conducted a massive crackdown against criminals and arrested nine outlaws from different areas of the city.

A police spokesman said, “Following orders of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas, a massive crackdown against criminal elements is going on in the capital.”

Tarnol police team arrested two accused during snap-checking, Musan Jan and Yousuf Khan. They recovered 550 grams of heroin and one 30 bore pistol.

Karachi company police recovered one 30 bore pistol along with ammunition from accused Faisal Khan. Shehzad Town police arrested two accused Shabbir Azam and Sohail Ahmad and recovered one 30 bore pistol and one dagger.

Sihala police arrested two accused Malik Mubeen and Imran Safdar. They recovered two 30 bore pistols with ammunition. Sabzi Mandi police team recovered one 30 bore pistol from accused Zafarullah. Aabpara police also recovered 90 litres of liquor from an accused Faizan.

Cases against all the nominated accused have been registered and further investigation is underway.
