LAHORE:

Outgoing Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar reiterated on Monday that he had always acted in accordance with the law while ensuring merit and consulting his colleagues.

“My conscience is satisfied as none one's self-esteem was hurt and all the people were respectfully treated,” he said about his tenure in office while addressing officials at a farewell event held in his honour.

He said he had not resorted to political victimisation or sought personal projection while performing his duties.

Buzdar remarked that he had never hesitated to make difficult decisions. “I have tendered resignation in the larger public interest and extended full support to the decision made by the prime minister. I am also thankful to the government machinery for extending support to fulfil the mission of public service;” he said and impressed upon the civil servants to continue to serve the public.

He vowed to always strive for the welfare of the people.

Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal said Chief Minister Buzdar gave freedom to work and priority to merit. The IGP, ACS and senior officials attended the function.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the CM's Office asserted in a statement that merit had always prevailed in appointments and transfers in Punjab during the rule of the outgoing chief minister.
