Project on the anvil to computerise factory workers’ data
The Sindh Police have begun work on a project to computerise working in factories in Karachi and registration of their employees. The decision in this regard has been taken to curb crime with special focus on street crimes.
Sources informed The Express Tribune that in the first phase of the project, the data of daily wage workers will be collected while in the second phase all the workers will be registered.
An investigation after the arrest of street criminals has revealed that many people, who work in factories on daily wages in day shifts, are found involved in various crimes.
It is also learnt that many daily wagers stop going to work when their managements, having doubt on their character, inquire about them.

According to sources, meetings were held with the representatives of traders in industrial zones to implement the project. The pilot project will be launched soon.
Major industrial zones of the city include SITE, Sher Shah, Landhi, Korangi, Export Processing Zone, Quaidabad, New Karachi Industrial Area, Korangi Industrial Area, Gabol Town, Federal B Industrial Area, and Site Super Highway Ahsanabad where thousands of people are employed for different jobs on daily wage basis.
