Public service: PTA wants you to report spam SMS and calls
PTA said that those who will not stop doing so may face legal consequences according to the law.
In the same notice, PTA has asked consumers to report any such spam message/calls to PTA.
How to report spam/unwanted SMS/calls
If you receive any spam message or call that you did not subscribe to, or any call/SMS that you do not wish to receive again, SMS the following details to ‘9000’:
- Sender’s cell number
- Your cell number
- Any details that you may want to add
Send this information to 9000 for PTA response.
Note: Charges for sending an SMS to 9000 are 10 paisas (including tax).

The PTA is doing great work, but they can only be effecctive as the borders they control. They (and Warid, uPhone, and Zong), should join up with the GSMA's anti-spamming service - http://www.gsmworld.com/our-work/mobilelifestyle/spam/spamreporting.htm. I recently spoke to them about it and they are in the process of launching several markets around the globe. I like that they are using 7726 (spam) as a reporting shortcode too...its simple and easy to remember.
I would like to report Zong, not only for spamming, me but also for ignoring my request to stop spamming me. Also, I would like to report Zong for selling my phone number to telemarketers.

A great effort by the PTA. I salute this move and hope implementation has begun. Ufone spams me daily despite having called the helpline to put these messages on hold.
No ufone, I do not want late night call offers ... 9am-3pm deals would be ideal :)

they should also take measures to check shop keepers, while easyload they transfer less amount than paid..

PTA should also ask the cellular phone companies not to sent the marketing SMS as any one who would like to know a particular service would call the relevant cellular phone company.
The marketing promotions of cellular phone companies should be restricted to add new information on their relevant websites or publish it in the newspapers. They should not send a direct SMS to the subscribers.
Rashid, if you want to stop receiving any SMSes from Warid or any other telecom operator, all you have to do is to call the helpline and ask them to remove your number.

PTA has taken a good and responsible step but the public at large is receiving spasm messages from the cellular companies which are all the time sending sms without keeping in view the time and period. How to stop them? Is it possible to stop their sales promotion calls and sms which they are sending at odd hours?
I would like to report Warid. They send me spam on daily basis.
