LAHORE:

With Pakistan's political turmoil deepening even after Imran Khan dodging an attempt to oust him and seeking fresh elections, a move the opposition challenged as treasonous and vowed to fight, Pakistani Twitter also called out the embattled prime minister.

The entire nation had their eyes on the crucial National Assembly session with PM Imran's fate on the line as the opposition ranks moved a no-trust motion against the premier off the back of his key coalition government allies choosing to jump ship.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri dismissed the no-trust move against PM Imran, terming it against Article 5 of the Constitution.

President Dr Arif Alvi then dissolved the National Assembly on the premier's advice under Article 58 of the Constitution

PM Imran had promised a surprise for the nation on the day the vote of no- confidence was to be held. Amidst the rising political tensions, he remained confident. This, he said, was because he still had one last trick up his sleeve. The ‘promise’ came to the forefront during the session of the lower house.

The predicted final showdown between the government and the opposition provoked a myriad of reactions. On the other hand, some Twitter users have shown disapproval of the events of the National Assembly today.

Many prominent figures on Twitter expressed their pride over the actions of the PM and declared that he was in fact the man of the match for Pakistan and is not to be under estimated in any circumstance.

Netziens also took to Twitter to pray for the premier.
