KARACHI:

The city administration and Karachi commissioner have failed miserably in implementing the new rates of chicken as retailers are selling it at price almost double to the officially announce rates.

Commissioner Karachi fixed the retail price of chicken meat at Rs365 per kg but the chicken meat is still sold throughout the city at a price fixed by poultry farmers and wholesalers.

Reportedly, the sale of chicken has increased because of the month of Ramazan. Consumers prefer to buy chicken due to the spread of lumpy skin disease.

Taking advantage of the situation, poultry sellers are selling chicken for up to Rs500. The city administration and commissioner found that the official price list was not displayed at the poultry shops.
