(Read: Parties react: Political rhetoric heats up as violence spikes again)
Wassan was speaking to the media in Islamabad before attending a meeting summoned by President Asif Ali Zardari on the law and order situation in Karachi.
The home minister ruled out deployment of the army to control the ongoing violence.
He said positive results will be seen in the coming days regarding law and order in the city.
Wassan maintained that action has been taken against miscreants and arrests had also been made.
A city of more than 18 million, Karachi has a long history of violence, and ethnic, religious and sectarian disputes and political rows can often explode into battles engulfing entire neighbourhoods.
Street thugs and ethnic gangs have been used by political parties as foot soldiers in a turf war in a city which contributes about two-third of Pakistan’s tax revenue and is home to ports, the stock exchange and central bank.

The home minister ruled out deployment of the army to control on the going violence. It is a statement recently issued by the home minister, but people at large are disagreed with the view because considerable time has passed but there is no change or betterment in the circumstances. Innocent people are being killed, tortured targeted to death, kidnapped and short to kill but on the other hand repeatedly saying by the authority concerned it is matter of days government will control it.
please note the statement of the home minister,He said positive results will be seen in the coming days regarding law and order in the city.
In fact, they are not dependable, they have lost credibility ,baseless slogans are raised statement are also not trustworthy.peace loving people see the situation with deprivation and want armed forces should come and save the country from further destruction because it is time, otherwise???????????????????
This has turned into a national security issue as terror and destruction has gained grounds and strong foothold into the very heart of cities. Right now. . . .please accept it, before it is too late, to seriously let the military come in with dignity, and do not stop the military from playing its role of securing the nation and its people before it is too late. Selfish political interests are not helping and will not serve this democracy. This democracy can only be saved by letting the military secure the city atleast for sometime . . .otherwise there will be irreversible damage and failures! Prayers.
What good is a Document called CONSTITUTION if 1450 innocent people are killed in the country's largest metropolis in 7 -8 months of 2011 by street gangs and the constitutionally elected government and the sacred judiciary do not feel to consider it to be an emergency.
HURRAH for Democracy! or SHAME for the kind of Democracy we practice.
Pakistani's it is TIME for a Technocratic Government which may not be ideally Democratic but one which can ensure the SECURITY of its people and call murder and massacre a state of emergency for the country
TIME FOR A PAKISTANI SPRING! If the people lead good otherwise let the Army lead it for the people
The remarks by Mr Wasan is based on ground realities & is the result of his predecessor handling of the issue....more than 5000 criminals were recruited in the police force during Mr Mirza`s tenure apart from re-organising the " Aman peace committee ".....why the govt not providing adequate facilities to Liyari area when it is its own very constituency...?? the prevalent situation is due to unemployement, unaffordable food items & lack of electricity...but even then Karachi city was much peaceful more than 3 years back then what it is now....have mercy for the sake of Pakistan...
Lebanon with an A Bomb -- and you wonder why the rest of the World is worried about Pakistan?
Tell us what no one knows in our country. Just do something serious without any fear from any quarter. People want action the rest they already know.
The problem is recruitment of police officers. THe Sindh Public Service Commission has failed (they should learn how to hire without favour, fear or prejudice frm the thuggish politica parties )
All future recruits for Sindh should be managed through the Fedeall Public Service Commission and/ or Punjab Public Service Commssion.
Enough is enough!
And you Mr.Home Minister have told this many times before!! The point is when are you going to do something about it!!
What a non serious attitude of govt that is always giving stupid reasons for its failure. They hav no sense of shame. For God sake hav pitty on karachi. Its nt a cake u r trying to slice among u
That does include PPP. Can PPP Government start de-weaponization by cleaning its own house first? Second point is what is the role of law enforcing agencies? Police has practically been crippled by inducing thousands of unworthy persons, police training centers providing inadequate training for lack of professionals and corruption. Rangers appear to look other way. FC is invisible. Street Crime, theft, car, motorcycle snatching is all time high. Only profitable business in this city appears to be target killing.
Karachi was much safer in Musharraf era. All the Waderas, Raees, Sardars, Khans, Maliks etc sitting in Assemblies are mighty protectors of crime.
Mr. Wassan if this is not anarchy then what it is? You must admit that your Government has failed miserably in providing any sort of protecting the citizens of Karachi. If Karachi is pile of weapons it is due to incapability of corrupt law enforcing agencies who are under control.
Please supplement your actions with concrete actions otherwise Karachi will soon become a ghost city and do not forget it is life line of Pakistan providing 70% revenue.
