After serenading the world with his Coke Studio number, Pasoori, Ali Sethi is now partying with showbiz bigwigs from Bollywood and beyond in Los Angeles, California. On Wednesday, ahead of the 94th annual Academy Awards, there were a couple of pre-Oscars celebrations held in honour of game-changers in the world of film.

The pre-Oscars South Asian Excellence Event was hosted by the shining stars of the South Asian community on the international stage, Priyanka Chopra Jones, Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani, Anjula Acharia, Bela Bajaria, Maneesh K Goyal, and Shruti Ganguly. Bollywood actors Swara Bhasker and Abhay Deol attended the event to root for their colleagues’ nominations and much to everyone’s delight, posted a picture with Pakistani singer Ali Sethi on their Instagram profiles from the event.

Pooja Kohli, a digital creator from India, posted a picture with the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor and the Chan Kithan crooner. “With my favourite guys! Abhay Deol, always and forever, and Ali Sethi, my latest obsession!”

Sethi reposted the pictures on his gram and added hearts to the pictures taken with Deol and Bhasker, indicating that he had a great time chilling with them at the event. Attendees also included Aziz Ansari, Lily Singh and Kal Penn. 

This year’s South Asian Oscar nominees include Riz Ahmed (Flee, The Long Goodbye), Joseph Patel (Summer of Soul), Suroosh Alvi (Flee) Pawo Choyning Dorji (Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom), Aneil Karia (The Long Goodbye), Elizabeth Mirzaei and Gulistan Mirzaei (Three Songs for Benazir), Rintu Thomas, Sushmit Ghosh and Anurima Bhargava (Writing with Fire).
