Cameras to be installed at polling booths

Meeting reviewed security arrangements at polling stations and duties of election staff

Lady searchers will be deployed at polling stations and security cameras will be installed at polling booths in Malakanad Division.

The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheerul Islam at Commissioner Office Saidu Sharif to review the arrangements for holding the second phase of local body elections in seven districts of Malakand Division.

Regional Election Commissioner Nadeem Khan also attended the meeting. Deputy commissioners (DCs) and district police officers (DPOs) of Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Lower Dir, Upper Dir districts of Malakand Division were also present in the meeting. Deputy Commissioners and DPOs of Chitral Upper and Chitral Lower attended the meeting via video link. The meeting reviewed the arrangements made for the second phase of local body elections.

The meeting reviewed security arrangements at polling stations and duties of election staff and other matters.

Presiding over the meeting, Commissioner Malakand Division said that the Regional Election Commission would have the full support of the divisional and district administrations and every facility would be provided to the election staff. Zaheerul Islam while issuing orders said that peaceful conduct of elections is a shared responsibility and in this regard the district administration and police will employ all resources for security and transportation of election staff. He ordered deployment of lady searcher at the polling stations and to ensure effective security of the polling stations.
