Four soldiers martyred as infiltration attempt foiled

ISPR says terrorists fled away after suffering heavy casualties

Four soldiers embraced martyrdom, while foiling an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate into the North Waziristan district of Pakistan from Afghanistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Thursday.

According to the ISPR, the media wing of the military, the terrorist infiltration attempt was foiled in Hassan Khel in the North Waziristan district. “Due to alertness and timely response of the troops, the infiltration attempt was foiled,” the ISPR said.

“Terrorists retaliated with fire which was reciprocated in a befitting manner. The terrorists having failed, fled away and as per intelligence reports, suffered heavy casualties. However, during intense exchange of fire, four soldiers, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat,” the ISPR added.

According to the media wing of the military, the Shaheed soldiers were 34-year-old Lance Havaldar Wajahat Alam, from Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan; 25-year-old Sepoy Sajjid lnayat from Sheikhupura; 32-year-old Sepoy Maqbool Hayat from Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan; and, 22-year-old Sepoy Sajjid Ali from Skardu.

“The Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR statement concluded.
