Female dengue worker injured in fall from roof

RAWALPINDI:

A 33-year-old man shot himself in the head at his residence at a private housing society within the airport police limits.

The deceased was identified as Qaiser. Rescue 1122 teams shifted the body to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital. The police team visited the scene and recovered the pistol.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man has committed suicide. However, the actual cause of the death will be ascertained in the light of the post-mortem and forensic report. The body was handed over to heirs after a post-mortem.

Dengue worker injured

Meanwhile, a female dengue worker suffered serious injuries when she fell from a rooftop while checking for dengue larvae in Union Council Khayaban-e-Sir Syed Sector-1.

Sameera Bibi fell from the roof of a house while looking for dengue larvae in a water tank placed on the rooftop. She was taken to the Holy Family Hospital, where she is stated to be in critical condition. Sameera Bibi has been working in the anti-dengue squad.

The fall caused severe injuries to her head and back. Health officers and supervisors rushed to the hospital and the family of the lady worker was also informed.

Two tortured, kept in habeas corpus

Meanwhile, a seminary student and his father were allegedly tortured and kept them in habeas corpus accusing the student of kidnapping a 9th-grade student in the Chohar area of Westridge.

Sources said that the girl's father and relatives called the 14-year-old student Muhammad Waleed and his father Akseer to the house for a jirga. When they showed up, the girl’s family forcibly shaved the student’s head and eyebrows and tied him up and tortured him.

Police were alerted about the illegal detention of the two. Police raided the house and arrested four persons identified as Ajab Khan, Sarfraz Khan, Abdul Sattar Khan and Mohammad for torturing the student and shaving his head.

Police also arrested Muhammad Waleed for allegedly kidnapping the 9th-grade student, identified as Zainab.

The arrested student denied the claims of her abduction and rape by the family. Police have registered a case against student Muhammad Waleed accused of kidnapping daughter Zainab Khan on Ajab Khan's complaint.

A case was also registered against the four accused on a complaint of the father of Waleed. All the accused were sent to Adiala jail by a judicial magistrate on a 14-day judicial remand.
