LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Tuesday that the nation was united under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the government would complete its term.

Speaking to provincial ministers Mian Aslam Iqbal, Hashim Jawan Bakht and Hamid Yar Hiraj, he termed the announcement of a long march on March 23 as an attempt to malign national unity.

He alleged that the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement was oblivious of the importance of national interest.

"These individuals are putting the national interest at stake to protect their political stakes," he said and added that the PDM had again shown political immaturity and irresponsibility.

"There is no room for negative politics," he stressed.

The chief minister claimed that the politics of the opposition was not based on any principle or ideology. He vowed to counter every tactic of the opposition.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Buzdar reiterated in a statement that the protection of consumers' rights was an obligation of the government.

In his message on Consumer Rights Day, he said the implementation of a strategy for the purpose was being ensured.

The Consumer Protection Act has been enacted n the province, which is benefiting millions of consumers, he mentioned.

Under the act, consumer courts have been set up in most of the districts and no consumer would be deprived of rights in the 'new Pakistan', he said.

"It is also imperative that the consumers should be aware of their rights and duties as the purpose of celebrating this day is to spread awareness," the CM concluded.
