A number of colourful events were organised in twin cities to celebrate Punjab Culture Day on Monday.
The Punjab Arts Council celebrated the day where the festivities began at 10am. Stalls of artisans from the Potohar region were set up. Talented students participated in a poster-making competition with the theme 'Colour of Punjab'.
Performances of school children were organised in association with All Pakistan Private School Management Association. An exhibition of paintings titled ‘Beautiful Punjab’ was organised in which various artists participated.
A platform for young singers was also provided in which the singers performed all day long. Children sang and danced on various folk songs and were accompanied by Divisional President of APSAMA Abrar Ahmad Khan, Amir Anwar, and others.
All schools were awarded honorary shields and certificates for their performances.
A hilarious Mehfil-e-Mushaira, presided by legend Anwar Masood was also held in which Dr Inamul Haq Javed, Naseem Sehar, Dr. Mazhar Abbas, Dr. Aziz Faisal, Muhammad Arif, Saleem Akhtar, Mah Jabeen, Rukhsana Nazi, Shahbaz Chauhan and Darshehwar presented their poetry.

Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmad said that it was a commendable initiative of the Punjab government that Punjab Culture Day was being celebrated all over the province. Naheed Manzoor said that Pakistan's beautiful culture is famous all over the world.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company,(RWMC) conducted a thorough cleaning operation on Monday in connection with the celebration of Punjab Culture Day. Stalls decorated with traditional and cultural items from different parts of Punjab were set up at the Rawalpindi Arts Council.
The RWMC also established a camp to create awareness about cleanliness and anti-dengue measures at Arts Council. The communication and social mobilisation team of RWMC also paid special attention to the cleanliness of streets, neighbourhoods and bazaars.
He said RWMC was working diligently to protect the citizens by providing a pollution-free environment. "Join us, spread the message of cleanliness to every home, and help in our efforts to prevent and spread lethal diseases", he added.
