The Secretary General of Pasban-e-Aza, trustee of the mosque and Imambargah Khairul Amal in Ancholi, Syed Salman Haider Rizvi, was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside a park near the police station in the Ancholi area late on Saturday night.
Representative bodies of the Shia community including Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan and Majlis-e-Wahdat-eMuslimeen have condemned the murder. According to police Haider was attacked when he was getting out of his car in a local park where people park their cars at night in the densely populated Shia neighbourhood.

As per available reports, the suspects were following him on a motorcycle, finding the right moment to strike, they opened fire and fled. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but died on the way. The victim was shot four times while police recovered two shells from the park.
Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan President Allama Razi Jafar Naqvi has strongly condemned the murder of Haider and said that enemies of the Ummah and the nation were hatching conspiracies to shatter the peace, security and tranquillity achieved after years. Naqvi said that after other provinces of the country in a systematic manner, terrorist activities against the Shia sect are beginning to take place in Karachi. Shaheed Salman Haider was the advocate of unity among Muslims.
His assassination is a conspiracy to disrupt law and order situation in the city and calls into question the performance of law enforcement agencies. Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan president demanded that the government should take immediate notice of the killing of Salman Haider and arrest the terrorists involved in the heinous crime as soon as possible
