LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich has rejoined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a local news outlet reported on Sunday.

Reportedly, a formal announcement in this regard will be made soon. The report further added that four more members more the ruling party from Punjab may jump ship soon.

This development comes ahead of vote on the no-confidence motion moved by the opposition to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan from power.

The opposition has already submitted the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly (NA), however, Speak Asad Qaiser is yet to convene a session. According to rules, the speaker needs to convene the session within 14 days of submission of the motion.

The opposition spent the past few weeks reaching out to government’s allies – it now claims to have enough votes. The government, on the other hand, has intensified efforts to woo its allies to thwart the no-trust move.
