Amid the rising political temperature in the country, National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has advised people to watch less TV to avoid angst caused by current political developments, saying the problems will last only a few days.
Addressing a dinner hosted by Adviser to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Muhammad Ayub Afridi in honour of overseas Pakistanis on Sunday, the NA speaker said that the PTI-led government holds overseas Pakistanis in high regard and recognises their worth.
Asad Qaiser, who is facing the charge of a ‘partisan’ line on the opposition’s no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan represented the Muslim community globally. “He told the world that terrorism has nothing to do with Islam.”
In an apparent reference to the frantic political developments, Qaiser remarked, “It is a matter of a few days”.
Speaking about the overseas Pakistani community, he said the government was taking a keen interest in addressing the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis face on a priority basis.
“We have a very cordial and respectful relationship with overseas Pakistanis.”
Qaiser shared that the work on establishing a separate judicial system and courts for the overseas Pakistani nationals would also begin soon, a move which he said would significantly help fix the problems.
