Models, makeup artists call Sana Javed ‘unprofessional, insecure’ post ‘horrible’ experiences
Actor Sana Javed has been all over social media since allegations of misbehaviour began surfacing against her. From dropping hints to naming and shaming, many from the fashion fraternity have come forward with their “horrible” experience of working with or alongside the Aye Musht-E-Khaak star, and feeling “disrespected” in the process. Javed, albeit, has not responded to any of the claims yet.
It all started when model Manal Saleem put up an Instagram Story to complain about an “entitled” celebrity. “Requesting all clients to not ask me to shoot with any actress or celebrity ever again,” she began. “With their self-entitled attitudes, they think we are ‘dou takay ki model’. The audacity to say that on my face! Hum bhi kaam karne aatay hain, muft men zaleel honay nahi aatay (We also come to work, not to get disrespected for free),” added Saleem, quoting the celebrity’s alleged words.
More models come forward
“Oh my God! I’ve had a horrible experience with her too. I’m a newbie in this field and I asked her very politely if we can take a boomerang for Instagram. She responded with, ‘Tum models fame keliye kuch bhi karsakti ho na (You models will do anything for fame won’t you), even act like you and me are friends? In a very sarcastic manner before walking away,” read the DM. Saleem captioned the screenshot, “Name and shame! This is just sad, says a lot about her.”
While the latter added, “This actress is notorious for being unpleasant on set. Please don’t hire bullies to work with other individuals who just want a regular day at work. Also, if you’re in charge, have better control of the environment on set. Whether it’s a model, an actor or an extra – they deserve to be treated with equal respect.”
Seeing her fellow models speak up, Fareeha Sheikh mustered up the courage to pen down her alleged encounter and name Javed. According to the starlet, she was affronted for simply daring to breathe in the same space as the actor at Mian Saad’s studio “where multiple shoots can take place.” Apparently, Sheikh was to shoot for a different designer under the same roof as her. She arrived first and got her make-up done. Javed “entered three hours late” and upon seeing Sheikh seated in the same room allotted to her, “she stormed out, throwing a tantrum.” According to the model, she also threatened the designer, stating she would leave unless Sheikh is “kicked out,” following which, the designer “barged in and started screaming” at Fareeha, leaving her shuddering.
“The designer started screaming at me like I was filth under her shoes. I was shocked! My hands and feet started shaking because I didn’t know what I did to deserve such treatement. When the makeup artist and Saad saw me, they both stood up for me and kicked that designer out of the studio and told her to take her business elsewhere if she didn’t know how to share a space that was being equally paid for by both parties,” added the model.
Model Saheefa Jabbar penned her two cents on the experiences shared by her fellow fraternity members. Without mentioning or tagging anyone, Jabbar wrote, “It doesn’t matter if you’re one of the top TV personalities, a model, a tea boy or a shoe polisher, you are at a work place, you are there because you need that specific job, you need that money. If you can’t respect your work place, or you have temper issues and deeply rooted insecurities, then please get yourself checked.”
Makeup artists chip in
Makeup artist Ikram Gohar went on to upload an entire post dedicated to his experience with Javed. Fellow makeup artist Rhyan Thomas followed suit.
In his post, Gohar claimed, “Who the hell is she [Javed] to call Saleem a ‘dou takay ki model’. She did the same thing with me, called me at her shady place somewhere in DHA for her Nikah trial makeup. She told me she wanted to get her nikah look done by me only, and called me every day, behaving like a sweet person and my best friend. I went to her and she discussed her bridal look with me. I started her makeup and she tortured me for four hours over a rose gold eyeshadow. She removed her eye makeup 10 times and treated me like shit. During that, when I told her I needed to use the bathroom, she told me to go out and use the bathroom of a restaurant which was right in front of her place. In the end, she called me saying, ‘You don’t know how to do makeup and you’re unprofessional.’”
Gohar went on to claim that Javed has pulled off similar stunts with Nabeela, Omayr Waqar and Rhyan Thomas. “Now, I would just like to say that Sana Javed, you are unprofessional and horrible and you should be banned from the industry.”
Thomas, on the other hand, recollected how he was called in by Javed and Sadaf Kanwal for the PISA Awards in Dubai, where the prior allegedly held him “hostage”. Given both her and Kanwal were to be prepped by him, the timings were scheduled accordingly – Javed was to go first and Kanwal next, while Thomas was supposed to spend two hours on both their looks.
However, as per Thomas, the moment he arrived to do Javed’s makeup, she told him she was suffering from a migraine and went straight to the bath that “lasted an hour.” After this, she allegedly wanted to have hookah, for which she “took me to the lobby and spent another two hours there with other celebrities,” during this, Thomas remained in touch with Kanwal who was also waiting for her turn. But upon finally returning to the hotel room, Javed allegedly “threw a fit,” and blamed Thomas for getting them late for the red carpet. Upon hearing Kanwal’s calls, she “confiscated” his phone and and “put the hotel’s landline on hold.” Javed allegedly spent the rest of the time demeaning Thomas’ skills. Provided he could not let Kanwal know about the situation, she assumed he had bailed on her, and did her hair and makeup herself, which according to the makeup artist, is what Javed wanted due to “her insecurity.”
TV actor Durefishan Saleem shared Thomas’ post, stating that “harassment is a big NO,” irrespective of the gender. “Don’t ever get why makeup artists are treated like this when they are the kindest support system on the sets for me at least. More power to you my darling Rhyan Thomas, you are fire.”
The Express Tribune has reached out to Sana Javed for a comment on the matter and is awaiting a response. The message has been marked ‘seen’.
