PSCA to integrate over 100,000 CCTVs
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) is going to integrate over 100,000 closed-circuit cameras (CCTVs) installed by the Mass Transit Authority, Smart City, Ring Road, DHA and private societies with its control centre in the next phase.
The tenth meeting of the Safe Cities Management Committee was held at the Qurban Police Lines. It was chaired by the Punjab Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Rao Sardar Ali Khan, who approved the move.
The Management Committee meeting was attended by Lahore CCPO Fayyaz Ahmed Dev and representatives of Finance, Planning and Development, Communication and Works and Information Technology Board.
So far the authority has interlinked at least 2500 CCTV cameras of the private housing society.
The figure had been shared by the Chief Operation Officer of the PSCA, Kamran Khan, during a briefing to Lahore CCPO on March 7.
The installation process started last month when Khan had held a meeting at the PSCA headquarters with the representatives of the private housing society after Punjab government had issued an approval.
IGP Rao Sardar said that integration of the Safe City cameras with other public and private institutions and housing societies would not only make the monitoring of roads and sensitive places more effective, but it would also help in controlling of crimes and management of traffic management.
Kamran Khan also briefed the meeting on the project’s progress and future plans.
