KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association is extremely concerned about the life of one of its members, Dr Zafar Farooqi, a family physician who has been working in Metroville for 23 years. He has been given threats for ten days by callers demanding money. They tell him that if he doesn’t pay, they will attack him with a hand grenade. After the calls were made, some men came to his clinic and tried to destroy his car. “They are claiming that they belong to some mafia,” said a PMA press release on Thursday. On Wednesday, Dr Zafar was given a three-day ultimatum after which the callers said they would kill him. The calls have been taped and handed over to the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee, police and other security agencies. press release
