In a gruesome murder in the federal capital, a man shot dead his estranged wife, his father-in-law, brother-in-law and another man within the Aabpara police jurisdiction on Tuesday morning.
Police said that the victim woman, Raheela Bano, a nurse by profession who was on duty at a maternity home when her estranged husband identified as Abdul Rahim showed up and opened indiscriminate fire. As a result, Rahela and a technician at the maternity home died on the spot.
The attacker then rushed to his in-laws’ house in Sector G-6/1 and killed his father-in-law and brother-in-law on the spot.
According to the police, when the attacker was fleeing after killing his in-laws when an alert neighbour of the victims opened fire on him and injured him. The accused also retaliated against the neighbour of the victims.
Police, in the meanwhile, reached the spot and arrested the alleged killer
Police shifted the four bodies to Polyclinic for a postmortem and the injured accused to a hospital for treatment.
According to police, the accused was injured and his statement could not be recorded. As soon as he recovers, his statement will be recorded and further investigation will be carried out.
A pistol was recovered from the accused. A case of the incident has also been registered.
Four burnt alive
Meanwhile, four people, including two brothers, were burnt to death when a car caught fire after falling into a deep gorge near Multi Garden Society, Margalla Hills late Monday night.
Police along with Rescue 1122 officials shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.
Rescue 1122 officials said that a speeding car fell into a ditch on GT Road and caught fire as a result of which a man, a woman and two children, were burnt alive.
He said that the victims were completely burnt, therefore, it was not possible to identify them. However, they would be able to comment after they receive the DNA report.
According to the motorway police, the accident occurred due to speeding.
The victims were on their way to Rawalpindi from Taxila when the accident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, at 11:20 last night, the car driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding and fell into a deep ditch. The car caught fire and the occupants burnt alive.
The deceased brothers’ uncle, Shakeel Ahmed, told The Express Tribune that Shakeel Ahmed said they were his nephews. The brothers were identified as 30-year-old Zubair Miskin and 28-year-old Umair Miskin. Umair was a driver by profession while Zubair was a tailor master.
On Monday night, they rented a car from a local rented car and left for Rawalpindi.
Shakeel said that on Tuesday morning, the motorway police officer came to his house and informed him about the tragic deaths of his nephews. He said that Zubair’s wedding was scheduled for two days and they were going to Islamabad for some shopping.
According to the Motorway Taxila admin officer, the other two bodies are at the PIMS’s morgue. The two other deceased were between the ages of 12 and 14 years.
