Actor Mehwish Hayat was recently saved from an unsolicited touch by a colleague during a meet and greet session. The act was brought to the Punjab Nahi Jaungi star’s attention when a viral video making the rounds on social media reached her. Hayat expressed her shock and called out the man for crossing the line while also thanking her colleague, Rehan Siddiqui, urging people to learn from the “true gentlemen”.
Siddiqui had shared the video on his Instagram story and emphasised on the need of learning social manners. “Some people need to learn manners of meet and greet when around women. I had to do this to this uncle,” he captioned the video that sees him preventing the man’s hand from touching Hayat’s waist.
The 39-year-old actor wasn’t aware of the occurrence until he put it up. She immediately cross-shared it on her Instagram story and wrote, “[I am] shocked at how much liberty fans sometimes think they can take with artists. [I] wasn’t aware of this incident but thank you Rehan for literally having my back. People should learn from you what being a true gentleman is all about.”
Recently, actor Ushna Shah also called a woman out for breaching her personal space by touching her hair. The Parizaad actor was vocal about the exchange and the discomfort it caused her which started a conversation on public figures and the concept of personal space camouflaging as love and blessings. Public figure or not, personal space and boundaries are a right of every individual.
