ISLAMABAD:

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday said that certain foreign forces want to destabilise Pakistan.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a news conference in Islamabad where he stated that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police had identified a "big group" of terrorists who will soon be nabbed.

The news comes two days after Rashid had announced that three attackers involved in the bombing at the imambargah in the Peshawar's Kocha Risaldar area, which injured nearly 200 people and killed 67, had been identified.

Foreign policy

Rashid claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan gave the country an independent foreign policy.

During the press conference, he also announced three local holidays starting from March 22nd to 24th in light of the upcoming meeting of the Organisation of Islami Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers scheduled to be held in Islamabad.

Earlier, the minister had stated that Pakistan was moving towards a more neutral foreign policy under the leadership of PM Imran.

He stated that the country should aim to organise itself further on matters of foreign relations.

Political situation

Commenting on the ongoing political situation, the interior minister stated that the no-confidence motion said to be introduced by the opposition either against the National Assembly speaker or the premier will be defeated.

He further said that despite the soaring prices of petroleum products in the international market, the incumbent government had reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs10 per litre and that of electricity by Rs5 per unit.

Rashid also reiterated that no hurdle will be created in the way of PPP's long march to Islamabad and they will be provided with security.
