SHO arrested for hiding car laden with drugs

‘Special team’ of rouge cops allegedly robbing people in Orangi

The Station House Officer of Model Colony Police Station was arrested for hiding a vehicle laden with drugs and bribery in the city.

Reportedly, the vehicle was seized by the Model Colony police. DIG East Muqaddas Haider said that on Wednesday Model Colony police reportedly seized a car laden with drugs from which methamphetamine and heroin were recovered. However, SHO Anisur Rehman did not make any entry about the seized vehicle and took no action against the arrested suspects.

The DIG said that the officer hid the vehicle behind the police station and allegedly received a bribe to release the arrested suspects of the case. The DIG Muqaddas Haider said that after investigating the matter, an immediate action was taken and a case was registered against the SHO.

Similarly, SHO Memon Goth and Head Moharrar were also arrested by SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur on Thursday morning on the charges of patronage of a gambling den and a case was registered against them.

'Rogue cops' committing crimes

An unauthorised group of rogue cops which calls itself 'special party' was committing crimes in the Orangi town police station limits, an official of the Orangi Town police said on condition of anonymity.

They alleged that two assistant-sub-inspectors and two constables were involved in all sorts of criminal activities in Orangi Town.

The officers said that about 15 days ago, two persons were arrested after recovering more than two dozen sacks of betel nuts from a plastic shopping-bag manufacturing factory at, Rangeen Shah Road. He said that the arrested suspects were only released after allegedly receiving Rs130,000 as a bribe.

He said that the complaints against the two alleged officers are also not forwarded to the police high-ups due to their influence in the area of Orangi Town.
