FIA arrests man on child pornography charges

Authorities say the suspect is member of various WhatsApp groups of child pornography

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing Rawalpindi has arrested a man on charges of uploading child pornography and objectionable videos and pictures on social media.

On a tip-off of the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, an organization working for the protection of children's rights, the FIA traced the accused identified as Waqaullah Usmani, a resident of Park Lane, Rawalpindi Cantonment. The FIA also raided his house and an electronic device was seized.

FIA cybercrime technical experts analysed and found objectionable images and videos of children in the device. Authorities said the suspect is also a member of various WhatsApp groups of child pornography.

A case has been registered against the accused under PECA Act and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, robbers looted over Rs0.6 million from a mobile phones shop within the New Town police limits.

Despite being alert, police reached the crime scene late. The unidentified number of robbers riding a motorcycle barged into the shop of Mohammad Imran and snatched Rs681 at gunpoint.

Police have obtained footage of a CCTV camera installed in the shop and a case has been registered.
