Mahira Khan, Faysal Quraishi congratulate LQ on their long-awaited PSL win

Players, celebs took to Twitter to reflect on Lahore Qalandar's face-off against Multan Sultans

After the Lahore Qalandars were crowned champions of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) seventh edition, several celebrities took to Twitter to congratulate the team on their first-ever PSL champion trophy. The team beat the Multan Sultans by 42 runs at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium. With the LQ’s recent win, each franchise has won a PSL title.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui tweeted out a congratulatory message, writing, “Congratulations to Lahore Qalandars for winning their maiden PSL title by defeating favourites Multan Sultans in the final! Well deserved victory for the team and Fawad Rana who stood through thick and thin with his team in the last seven years!

Actor Shaan Shahid echoed the sentiment, writing, “Well done, Lahore Qalandars! You won our hearts a long time ago. Today, you won the trophy. So proud of you. To all the other teams, well played.”

Mahira Khan tweeted out in celebration, “Congratulations! Wah wah wah! Truly heartwarming to see Lahore Qalandars as the champions of this PSL.”

Similarly, actor Faysal Quraishi wrote, “Congratulations, Lahore Qalandars. What a great win. Captains Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez bhai, zabardast and [thumbs up to the] entire team. Hardluck the man of PSL7, Muhammad Rizwan.”

Reflecting on the loss, Rizwan took to Twitter to write, “Multan Sultans played like champions and champs get up after being knocked out. Yaqeen rakhna hai [We have to keep believing]. Thanks to all the fans, staff, players, coaches and owner.” He added, “Really happy for Lahore Qalandars. A win for Shaheen Afridi is a win for me.”

LQ’s Afridi wrote, “The wait of seven long years has finally ended. We are PSL champions. Grateful to every single player, coaches, owners, staff and super fans for your belief. You made it possible. Muhammad Rizwan bhai and Multan Sultans, you fought like champions.”

Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan, who won the best bowler award at the tournament, tweeted, “I thank Allah for the award of the best bowler in PSL. Individual awards are good but I would exchange all individual awards for my team winning. I dedicate this award to all Islamabad United fans, management, coaches and ownership. Thank you for all your support.”

Lahore Qalandar’s Haris Rauf also shared a message, writing, “All praise to Allah! The struggle, relentless efforts and hard work paid off finally. Qalandars are the Champion of HBL PSL7 under the captaincy of fierce Shaheen. An incredible journey comes to an end.”

After the tournament came to an end, sports presenter Zainab Abbas took to Instagram to share a picture of herself with her gang of female presenters Erin Holland, Marina Iqbal and Urooj Mumtaz Khan. She also tagged Sana Mir, who was not present during the match. Abbas wrote, “A journey of seven years of HBLPSL. Started off solo in 2016, cut to 2022 and the power of women is evident. All hugely talented and adding value [to] their roles. Been a pleasure, ladies. More power to women who talk sport!”
