Women among seven injured in gas explosion
Seven people were injured in an explosion due to the gas leakage inside a flat in Lyari on Saturday.
One of the injured is in critical condition. According to the information, the blast occurred due to the leakage of gas from the LPG cylinder in Subhanullah Arcade, Bihar Colony, in the Lyari area.
When the family lit match stick for making breakfast in the morning, an explosion occurred. As a result, seven people, including women were injured. Police and rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Burns Ward of Civil Hospital.
When contacted by Express, Chakiwara SHO, Inspector Ghaffar Shah said that according to the initial information, the incident happened due to the gas leakage. The blast also destroyed two walls of the flat and caused severe damage to other parts of the house.
The injured were identified as Jamila, wife of Shahzad, Sobia, daughter of Shahzad, Farhat, wife of Shoaib, Azmina, daughter of Shahzad, Hasnain, son of Shahzad, Hanain, son of Shahzad and Shoaib, son of Shahzad. Sobia's condition is stated to be critical.
She suffered 80 per cent burn injuries. The SHO said the bomb disposal unit and crime scene unit were also called in after the incident. The bomb disposal unit also issued a final report on the incident. Police are investigating
