‘Single curriculum to bridge rich-poor gap’

CM terms education sector top priority of his govt

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that the provincial government has adopted the policy of a single curriculum in educational institutions to bridge the social gap between the rich and poor.

“From the very first day, development of the education sector on modern lines has been the priority of the government,” the chief minister said while addressing the 26th Annual Parents Day of Garrison Cadet College Kohat (GCCK) as chief guest on Saturday. The CM also announced a grant of Rs100 million for the college.

Since its inception, the ruling PTI has declared education emergency under which a series of result-oriented measures are being taken to strengthen the education sector, CM Mahmood said. “As a result of these measures, quality of education in private sector schools has improved significantly and trust of the public in these schools has been restored.”

He said that the credit of uniform curriculum policy goes to the ruling PTI and Prime Minister Imran Khan, adding that the provincial government was taking concrete steps to implement the policies in the province.

Mahmood maintained that youth were the main focus of the present government’s policies, adding that the K-P government had chalked out a Digital Skills Training Programme with a cost of Rs5 billion to impart international standard skills training to the youth specially the fresh graduates in the field of information and communication technology.

He added that under the Digital Skills Training Programme, fresh graduates would be trained according to the market’s demand with the aim to enhance their employability.

Lauding the overall performance of GCCK in imparting quality education and training to the cadets, Mahmood said that in a short span of time GCCK has come forward as a prestigious educational institution ranking among the topmost institutions not only at provincial level but at national level as well. “Besides imparting quality education to cadets, GCCK is playing a very important role in grooming their personalities and make them patriotic citizens of the country,” Mahmood said, urging the cadets to focus all their attention and energy on learning and training to meet the expectations of their parents as well as the society and the nation.

Earlier, on his arrival, the college management and cadets gave a warm reception to the chief guest. Besides the college management, faculty members, parents and cadets, a large number of guests attended the event.

The event kicked off with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem. The cadets performed gymnastic and taekwondo. GCCK Principal Brigadier Hamid Jameel presented annual performance report of the college and the chief guest distributed shields and medals among the cadets with outstanding performance.
