‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ approved for Rawalpindi
The district administration and the District Market Committee have approved the establishment of 17 ‘Ramazan Sasta Bazaars’ in the Rawalpindi district during Ramazan.
Furthermore, the Agriculture Department has given its nod for setting up 10 ‘Sasta Farmers Bazaars’ across the district.
These affordable markets will be operational from April 2—two days before the start of Ramazan— and will continue till Eidul Fitr, serving customers from 9am to 6pm.
These markets will stock sugar, flour, vegetables, fruits, chicken, beef, mutton, gram flour, pulses, chickpeas, spices, ingredients for dahi bhallay, chana chaat and several other products at economical prices.
From 21st Ramazan onward, these bazaars will be declared ‘Eid Bazaars’ and Eid goods including children's garments and shoes will be available here for sale.
In Rawalpindi city, these Bazaars will be held in Committee Chowk, Hyderi Chowk, Khayaban Sir Syed Kamran Market, Double Road Allama Iqbal Park, Gulzar Quaid, Adiala Road, Morgah, Chakri Road, Chohar Chowk, Chowgi 22 and several other tehsils. Taxila, Kahuta, Kalar Syedan, Gujar Khan and Kotli Sattian will also have one Sasta Ramazan Bazaar each.

District Market Committee Chairman Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed has told The Express Tribune that the bazaars are being set up with the approval of the Deputy Commissioner (DC).
A meeting has also been scheduled in the next week to review the arrangements of these bazaars. An in-charge of each inexpensive Ramazan bazaar will be appointed and the Assistant Commissioners (ACs) will supervise them directly.
Any stall selling expensive and unhealthy vegetables and fruits will be shut down after imposition of a heavy fine. Prices will be prominently displayed at each stall, and the bazaars will be cleaned up on a daily basis, for which permanent sanitary workers are being appointed.
