DIG deploys SSU commandos at street crime hotspots

Police have arrested two suspects who robbed citizens by blocking the Korangi Causeway

The head of Karachi police security wing has directed police commandos to deal with alleged criminals with 'iron fist' but remain courteous with citizens.

DIG Security Dr Maqsood Ahmed, while addressing on the occasion of the departure of SSU commandos deployed at various city crime hotspots, said, “protecting citizens' life and property is our top priority.”

The DIG security directed the commandos to, "deal with the criminals with iron fists and, while on duty, treat the citizens courteously.”

On the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, it was decided to deploy SSU commandos along with motorcycle squads at various crime hotspots and sensitive places in the city.

Police have arrested two members of a gang who robbed citizens by blocking the Korangi Causeway.

According to a spokesperson of District Korangi Police, a few days ago, armed robbers had looted the citizens on Korangi Causeway at night. The Korangi police arrested two masterminds of the gang consisting of six members with extreme struggle and strategy and recovered two TT pistols, two stolen motorcycles, eight snatched mobile phones and Rs10,000 in cash from their possession.

The spokesperson said, the arrested robbers have revealed their involvement in the snatching incidents at recreational places in Korangi and Malir districts. Their previous criminal record is also being checked.

Korangi SHO, Zahid Lodhi said that the arrested suspects are residents of an area near Malir River. The police are searching for his other accomplices.
